This problem was typical for low class white families, but racial differences worsened and deepened this problem. These problems forced many young people to behave violently against society which resulted in civil disobedience. As a cultural element, rap music represents social movement against poverty, mass unemployment and negative experience of black youth. In many Asian families, women play a secondary role in contrast to men. Most Japanese and Latino try to find jobs in their ‘regions’ in order to keep cultural traditions and norms. On the other hand, it limits their professional opportunities and social mobility. In sum, there are interconnections between the social structure and culture which determine life of a person and his/her biography. In many cases, people are limited by their social class and culture unable to break social stereotypes. In other words, upward social mobility becomes impossible for poor social classes, deprived many persistent, hard-working and talented personalities a chance to compete on the labor market. Remaining value-neutral about abortion, suicide, adultery, drug use, domestic violence, and child abuse, will not be very easy because we all have our different opinion on such issues. The counselors can empathize with their feelings and the struggle that the clients are going to face, because they have shared experiences and value. I had a lot of friends that turned to drugs, and now they are drug free, working, got housing, and got their children back. There are a lot of options for drug abuser like rehab centers, detoxification clinic, methadone programs, and outpatient clinic. Issues such as child abuse are hard to remain value-neutral especially when you have children of your own. The ethic code will have to be use a lot so you can counsel the client with the same respect you will give anyone else. I would also look into other programs such as parenting, and group meeting so the clients can attend additionally.
